Hire Mountain

Hire Mountain places remote professionals with North American companies. The Compass is the work-style half of its matching, alongside skills, experience and interviews.

What a candidate does

Every applicant completes the 48 questions once, at hiremountain.com. Their reading and profile are stored in their applicant record and stay on file for future opportunities, so they never have to redo it.

What an employer does

A hiring manager can complete the same 48 questions from the team's point of view ("for this role I need someone who…") to create a benchmark reading. Hire Mountain then looks for candidates whose reading complements the benchmark, not necessarily one that mirrors it.

How the reading is used

As one input among several. Hire Mountain's stated rule is that the Compass is never the sole hiring criterion: it is read next to a résumé, a skills check and an interview. It is a conversation starter about how a person will actually work across distance, not a gate.

Where the data lives

Since September 2026 the questionnaire and its results are stored in the dedicated WorkStyle Compass system described on the Security page, and Hire Mountain reads them through a locked-down connection. A candidate's Compass reading therefore belongs to the candidate, and follows them to any other WorkStyle Compass use.

About WorkStyle Compass™. WorkStyle Compass is a work-style matching tool for remote and distributed teams, built and operated by Four Directions in Toronto, Canada. It describes work preferences and communication habits. It is not a psychological, personality or psychometric test, it does not diagnose or measure anything about a person, and it makes no scientific claim. Readings are meant to be used alongside skills, experience, interviews and conversation, never on their own.
